IronPython 0.7.1 is released

Tech Add comments

It was cool to see Jim Hugunin announce IronPython 0.7.1 to the world.

This is one of the first releases made since Jim has been at Microsoft.

I could tell that Jim had a lot to talk about, when I met him at the Microsoft Technology Summit a few weeks ago. Hopefully more things will get out there and he will be able to talk more.

Great work Jim and team.

There are a few in the Mono/GNOME community that isn’t all that impressed over the turn IronPython have taken after Microsoft hires Jim.

    Hi Trond -

Thanks for the blog link. I am sorry to see the Mono community feeling that way.

I don’t know any of the politics, but I know that Jim is an insanely smart guy. Many think that AspectJ wouldn’t have hit 1.0 if it wasn’t for his genius.

Whenever I have heard about Jim talk about IronPython, he has focused on the Python community.

Proof is in the pudding, so we will see.

If not, there are plenty of other great dynamic languages for the CLR, and hopefully more will grow (I really want a solid Ruby.NET ;)
